Vinny’s Vision

Vinny Bruno was a force of compassion, resilience, and unwavering belief in the power of recovery. Starting as a volunteer with The Million Mile Project, his impact grew far beyond any title, leading him to become our Director of Outreach. Vinny was the bridge between programs, the boots on the ground, and the reason so many struggling individuals found not just hope, but a real chance at a new life. His goal was to help others experience a life in recovery filled with purpose that he too had found- and that’s exactly what he did.

Vinny’s mere presence inspired those around him to be better—not because he asked it of them, but because he embodied it himself. His legacy of service, strength, and heart continues to guide MMP, reminding us daily of the joy and hope he brought to so many. He is deeply missed and his vision and dedication live on in everything The Million Mile Project continues to do. Vinny remains an integral part of our team, now guiding us from above.

Essentials Bags

Essentials Bags were Vinny’s idea, born from his own experience and from witnessing others arrive at treatment with nothing but the clothes on their backs. He knew firsthand how overwhelming that moment could be and believed that providing the first steps to self-care could offer a glimmer of hope when hope felt out of reach.

A Legacy Of Impact

Watch Vinny, in his own words, share the vision and mission of The Million Mile Project.

“Vinny saved my boy’s life. I was going to lose him.”

“As a loved one of an addict, I felt more hope working with Lauren and Vinny than I have in years.”

“Vinny is why I’m sober today, he believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself.”

“Vinny’s character is what stood out most to me. He was nice but also stood up for what he believed in and was well respected by so many. He lived a  life we all respected and strived to achieve.”

“I was ready to leave a program and Vinny talked me into staying. He always came and checked on me after that and because of him, I stayed and finished the program.”

“Vinny has a way of hearing you when you talk and always has the right things to say. A stand up guy that modeled a life with recovery and purpose. And he was on fire when leading meetings!”
